Five Valleys Audubon has scheduled a 2-day field trip to the Freezout Lake area on May 21 – 22.  We will be staying in Choteau and the preferred motel is the Stage Stop Inn (1-888-466-5900).

We will bird Freezout Lake on Saturday and should find Clark’s Grebe, Black-crowned Night-heron, Am. Bittern, several shorebirds, Golden Eagle and maybe a Ferruginous Hawk.  On Sunday, we will bird the Rocky Mountain Front and should see Chestnut-sided and McCown’s Longspurs, Clay-colored Sparrow, Horned Lark, Fox Sparrow, Clay-colored Sparrow, Bobolink, and possibly an Alder Flycatcher and Loggerhead Shrike.

The field trip will leave Missoula at 7:00 am.  Participants are asked to make reservations in advance.  Please call Larry Weeks at 406-549-5632 if you wish to attend and he will coordinate carpooling.  Plan to bring lunches for both days.  There is a $10 charge for multi-day field trips.
