Choteau Montana invites you to a weekend of birding and dining. The Stage Stop Inn, located at 1005 North Main Ave., will be the headquarters for the following events:
Friday March 22, 2019, at 7:00 PM a film ‘Winged Migration’ will be presented at the Stage Stop Inn. Movie is free to the public.
Saturday March 23, 2019 at 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM anyone interested in a guided tour of Freezout Lake Wildlife Management area will meet at the front doors of the Stage Stop. The Stage Stop has graciously agreed to have the breakfast scheduled at 5:30 instead of 6:00 for anyone that is going on the tours. These tours will given by expert local guides, Mike Schwitters, Dave Shea and Brent Lonner. Also there will be a van available owned by Dropstone Outfitting that can take 12 people for a $5.00 fee. Saturday March 23, 2019 at 1:00 PM Mike Schwitters, a world-renowned master birder, will be presenting “White geese over Montana”. This power point is free to the public and will be held at the Stage Stop Inn in the breakfast room.
Saturday March 23, 2019 at 5:30 PM the doors will open at the Rocky Mountain Convention Center in the Stage Stop Inn for the Old Trail Museum’s Wild Game Feed. Admission is by free will donation. This event (our premier event) will include a potluck dinner with dishes of many unique & delicious favorite recipes using wild game (we will also have many non-game dishes), silent auction, live auction, and a 50/50 drawing. For successful bidders, who may have limited vehicle/storage space while traveling, Old Trail Museum is offering to assist with delivery needs. Sunday March 24, 2019 at 6:30 AM another guided tour of Freezout Lake Wildlife Management area will be offered. Breakfast will be served early for those of you going on this tour. Expert local guides will once again take you to where the geese are located. Dropstone Outfitting will have the van available for this morning also or you may drive your own car or carpool.
